Spiders can bite, bees sting, roaches and mice can spread disease. You don't want any of these but you also don't want a poorly trained technician spraying chemicals all over your house. So what makes Aardvark different?
An owner trained in I.P.M. will always perform your service.
Integrated Pest Management is a form of controlling pests in an environmentally friendly manner while reducing pest populations to levels satisfactory to the customer. A great I.P.M. program always begins with an excellent inspection to determine the underlying cause of the infestation. Correction of existing conducive conditions for pest population growth is next. Exclusion methods take away pest entry points. Monitoring, trapping and baiting are other methods of low chemical control. Finally, the correct chemical usage in specific target areas reduces adult pest populations and prevents eggs and larvae from developing.
Second is our strict adherence to safety procedures.
For example: We always inquire about the presence of kids and pets. If we will need to back our vehicle we place a tire block behind a rear tire forcing us to walk to the back of the truck to remove it thus we'll see any child or pet activity near the back of the vehicle.
Aardvark is committed to protecting your family and home using the least invasive methods. We continuously pursue additional education in the latest methods of pest control.
Termites
Termites are relentless in their pursuit of cellulose materials. In
homes, this includes wood framing, roof sheathing, wall board, floor
joist & floors, books, wallpaper, window frames and paneling just to
name a few. A termite only needs 1/32 of an inch opening to invade
your home. This opening can come from cracks in the foundation
, electrical and plumbing entrances, cracks in the slab, behind any type
of siding and more. Termites are designed for destruction and cause
nearly $6 billion in damage to U.S. homes every year.
Termites live in colonies consisting of thousands to millions of
destructive workers. They are found in every U.S. state except Alaska
and infest over four-million U.S. homes each year.Termites cause
damage in hidden areas, behind walls, in crawl spaces, floors, attics,
and basements. Books, wallpaper and furniture are targets and
damage often goes undetected for years while the termites consume
up to a thousand pounds of your home each year. Most homeowner
policies do not cover termite damage
Liquid Treatments - Today there are many chemical termiticides available. New non-repellent termiticides are a fairly recent breakthrough in termite control and should always be used even though they cost a little more. In short, the treater will inject 100 gallons or more of termiticide into the ground around the foundation of your home. This creates a barrier that the termites must pass through to enter and exit your home. Many infested homes will require other measures of treatment but to cover all the details would require a book. The best thing about the newer non-repellent termiticides is they are fast acting and can control or completely eliminate your infestation in as little as a couple of weeks. The big disadvantage to a liquid treatment is the termiticide degrades over time. In other words your best protection is the first day after treatment.
Baiting Systems - Like liquids there are many baiting systems available, however, close examination and the level of testing separates the best from the pack. Monitors are placed in the ground around the home generally at about 10 foot intervals. A pest control technician checks the monitoring stations periodically and when termites enter stations the technician baits those stations with a highly desirable cellulous material containing an insect growth regulator. Again, the process would require a book to cover all the details but the important thing is once termites begin to consume the bait the colony begins to decline and can lead to complete colony elimination. The biggest disadvantage to a baiting system is they can take longer to control or eliminate the termites. The advantage is the continual monitoring by a pest control professional who can maintain the system as good as day one for as long as the customer chooses. Many people also like the idea of just a few grams of bait versus hundreds of gallons of chemical pumped into the ground around their home.
Why Choose Aardvark?
We present both options to our customers and discuss all the variables including effectiveness, installation impact on the home, safety and cost. Many companies offer only one option and will do their best to convince you only their treatment option is effective. Sometimes a combination is the best answer. There are great differences in the liquids and baits available and we only use the best. Who installs your homes' termite protection is critical. At Aardvark there is always an owner on the job, never a new termite treater who has been hired for the busy season.
